We Support Our Members' Safety and Peace of Mind

by Alicia Palelej | Jun 18, 2020

Dear Members:

I want to take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to you and to the communities we serve during these difficult and turbulent times. I also want to further state that The Police Credit Union stands firmly against social injustice and racial bias.

Our credit union started with the sole mission of helping and serving those in need of financial services within the law enforcement community. During this difficult period of pandemic and racial tensions, we are still staying the course, ready, willing and able to fulfill that mission—Providing Financial Solutions to Take Care of Our Own, to you, our 42,000 members!

First and foremost, our membership’s safety is paramount, and throughout our branches, we have taken prudent measures to provide you with the resources and solutions to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

As a law enforcement-focused financial services provider, we are extremely sensitive to the current anti-law enforcement sentiment that has arisen in response to recent police actions. Based on the current societal climate, we recognize that many of our law enforcement members and their families do not feel safe. As a credit union that has dedicated over 66 years of service to understanding the unique needs of law enforcement, we want to let you know about already established ways to provide you with the privacy you need for that peace of mind.

To start, we have "low-profile" designs of our credit and debit cards which only display an abbreviation of our name that does not include the word "police" or show an image of the star/badge. Members can call us at 800.222.1391 to request the low profile design for both credit and debit cards or email us at Members_info@thepolicecu.org.

We are also in the process of researching ways to shield our name and logo from appearing on mail you receive from us and on statements, and we will inform you if and when we are ready to make a change. Please remember that you can prevent anyone from seeing a paper statement by using electronic statements or E-statements, a secure and private way to view your account information. You can easily sign up for E-statements by going to www.thepolicecu.org, logging in to Online Banking, and clicking on the "Statements" link in the left-hand sidebar.

In closing, The Police Credit Union is committed to all our members in both good times as well as challenging ones. Today, more than ever, we thank you for your business, loyalty and entrusting us with your financial needs. We at The Police Credit Union hope and pray for better days ahead, both for law enforcement, the communities they serve and for our credit union.

Sincerely,
Eddie Young
