The Police Credit Union is proud to announce that on November 16, 2023 we will celebrate 70 years of service to our members – marking decades of continued strength and growth as an organization, allowing us to continue to serve our unique membership.

Back in 1953, a group of police officers from the San Francisco Police Department combined their resources in an effort to provide low-cost loans and meet their mutual financial needs as law enforcement professions, hence beginning the deep legacy of SF Police Credit Union. While our name today may be different, our core commitment to “taking care of our own” remains the same – serving our law enforcement family through the state of California.

With a long-term growth strategy in place, we have been able to continue to grow our product and service offerings while also ensuring we have the capital and infrastructure that will enable us to thrive, despite the volatility of the economy and financial sector  we’ve experienced these past years. This strategy has allowed us to remain on solid financial footing by having a strong financial cushion to support us through major economic downturns. Some of these strategies include the launch of new programs and technologies designed to enhance value for our members including our End of Watch Debt Forgiveness Benefit, H.E.R.O. Mortgage Loan, 10-Eight Loan, a new digital banking platform, our all new Virtual Branch and a new redesigned website, just to name a few.

As we reflect back on 70 years, it is because of the confidence and faith of our loyal members that has allowed us to flourish. Today we are proud to serve our 42,000 plus members with the same commitment we started with in 1953 – to provide financial solutions to take care of our own. From our Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and the entire team at The Police Credit Union, we thank you for your trust in us and for your part in continuing this proud legacy for many more years to come.
