Activating your debit card

We hope you enjoy your new debit card from The Police Credit Union. Once you've received your new card in the mail, follow the instructions below to activate it.

For a successful activation, please call from the primary telephone number listed on your account. (For instructions on verifying your primary telephone number, please refer to the "Verifying your primary telephone number" section below.)

  1. Call the number listed on the sticker on the front of your card.

  2. Follow the prompts to enter your card information. You will be asked to enter the card expiration date, last four digits of the primary account holder’s SSN and the 3-digit CVV number on the back of the card.

  3. You will hear a confirmation that your card is now activated. In addition, you will also need to select a new custom PIN to complete the setup of your card.

Verifying your primary telephone number

How do I verify my phone number?

  1. Log into Online Banking.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Update Profile.
  3. Verify that the phone number listed under Home Phone Number is your current, primary number.
  4. If you update your phone number, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click Continue to save your changes!

I want to update my Home Phone Number, but I'm having trouble saving my changes.

If you click Continue and see an "Invalid Input(s)" error message, double check your Profile Information. You'll have to fill in all the fields marked with a red asterisk ( * ) -- such as the Email and Residential Address fields -- before the form will save your changes. Once you have filled in the fields with your contact information, click Continue again.

If you need assistance with updating your primary phone number, please call us at 800.222.1391.

Calling from a number other than your primary number

If you are calling the 866 number (on the activation sticker) from a phone number other than the one we have in our system, you will be transferred to a live agent. Please do not hang up during the transfer period. You will be asked to verify your credentials and the agent will activate your card. To select a custom PIN, you will need to update your home phone number in online banking, then call the automated activation system and follow prompts to set a PIN.

Activating a card on a joint account

Both cards linked to a joint account need to be activated by using the primary account holder's phone number and Social Security number.
