Activating your debit card

We hope you enjoy your new The Police Credit Union debit card. Once you've received your new EMV debit card in the mail, follow the instructions below to activate it.

For a successful activation, please call from the primary telephone number listed on your The Police Credit Union account. (For instructions on verifying your primary telephone number, please refer to the "Verifying your primary telephone number" section below.)

  1. Call the number listed on the sticker on the front of your card.

  2. Follow the prompts to enter your information. You will be asked to enter your 3-digit CVV number from the back of the card as an added security measure. With this change, you are now only required to enter the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.

  3. You will hear a confirmation that your card is now activated. If you wish to keep your existing PIN, no further action is required; you can use your card immediately. If you would like to set a new custom PIN, follow the prompts.

Important: If you have been using a chipless The Police Credit Union debit card with a magnetic chip, please call us at 800.222.1391 to order an EMV debit card.

Verifying your primary telephone number

How do I verify my phone number?

  1. Log into Online Banking.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Update Profile.
  3. Verify that the phone number listed under Home Phone Number is your current, primary number.
  4. If you update your phone number, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click Continue to save your changes!

I want to update my Home Phone Number, but I'm having trouble saving my changes.

If you click Continue and see an "Invalid Input(s)" error message, double check your Profile Information. You'll have to fill in all the fields marked with a red asterisk ( * ) -- such as the Email and Residential Address fields -- before the form will save your changes. Once you have filled in the fields with your contact information, click Continue again.

If you need assistance with updating your primary phone number, please call us at 800.222.1391.

Calling from a number other than your primary number

If you are calling the 800 number from a phone number other than the one we have in our system, you will be transferred to a live agent. Please do not hang up during the transfer period. You will be asked to verify your credentials and the agent will activate the card. This individual cannot set a PIN for you--however, if you wish to keep your existing PIN, no further action is needed. You can use your new card immediately after the live agent activates it, using your previous PIN.

Important! If you hang up while being transferred, and call back again, you will be "blacklisted" after 3 attempts for security purposes.
It requires 24-48 hours to remove your name from the blacklist, so you are able to call again. Please do not hang up while being transferred.

Activating a card on a joint account

Both cards linked to a joint account need to be activated by using the primary account holder's phone number and Social Security number.
