Thank you to everyone who applied for our scholarship this year. The students selected to receive a 2017 The Police Credit Union Scholarship Award have not only achieved academic excellence, but have also strived to make a difference in their communities.
This year we are pleased to announce four Scholarship Award recipients.

Daniel Nelson, currently a paramedic, has done years of volunteer work with immigrants and children from at-risk communities. He's currently finishing up his bachelors in Public Health with the goal of becoming a physician's assistant.
Nick Janakos is a part of San Francisco's NERT, Pacifica's CERT, the Native Sons of the Golden West, and the San Mateo County First Responders Lions Club. While working at the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and supporting a young family, he is also pursuing his degree in Criminal Justice Management.
Russell Jew is a senior at UCLA--where he's on three honors lists--studying Computer Science. While maintaining a 3.92 GPA, Russell also managed to make time to tutor other students and serve as a Junior Cadet in the Police Activities League.
Victor Matthias is on the Dean's list at Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo, and we were very impressed with his long list of volunteer work over the years with the Novato Police Department, the SFPD, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office and the Boy Scouts of America.
