It was with extreme sadness that The Police Credit Union learned of the sudden and unexpected passing of our long-time Board member Robert Puts on June 20, 2023. Bob, a retired Commander in the SFPD, joined what was then SF Police Credit Union in 2000 as a member of our Supervisory Committee. He was appointed to the Board in 2003 and later served as both Vice-Chairman and later, Chairman of the Board. He was a passionate champion of our mission of serving Law Enforcement and their families and staying true to our core purpose of “taking care of our own”. Thank you, Bob, for your many years of volunteer service to the Credit Union. You will be missed. Condolences to your loving wife and family.
Due to Bob’s extensive tenure as a volunteer, his legacy is a proud and significant one. Here are some memories of Bob, shared by his friend and fellow Director John Goldberg, Chairman of the Board; Eddie Young, President/CEO, and Joseph Reilly, currently Corporate Secretary and former Board member.
John Goldberg, Chairman of the Board
"When I think of Bob, I think of his kindness and his caring. He cared deeply about his family and friends. He cared about the people with whom he worked, and he cared about the Credit Union and its members. He made us all better people."
Eddie Young, President/CEO
“Bob’s many years as a volunteer with The Police Credit Union is a true testament to his character as a person—one who cared deeply about helping others. We will miss his tireless efforts, dedication, and commitment to the credit union—he demonstrated the credit union motto of 'people helping people' and set an example of volunteer service that we can all aspire toward.”
Joe Reilly, Corporate Secretary/Former Board Member
“I remember Bob as a very dedicated credit union volunteer over many years, at a time when the Credit Union relied heavily on its volunteer officials. He rarely missed a meeting, and could always be counted upon to keep things on track, often with that subtle sense of humor."
